Modeling and Analysis of OS Performance in High-Speed Networks

چکیده
Interrupt overhead of high-speed network devices can have a significant negative impact on the performance of traditional operating system. The negative impact is primarily due to interrupt overhead associated with the intense arrival of high-speed network packets. This paper presents models and analytical techniques for capturing the behavior and studying the performance of interrupt-driven kernels due to such high packet arrival rate. We first present an analytical study for the ideal system when interrupt overhead is ignored We then present a second model which describes the impact of high interrupt rate on OS performance. The performance is studied in terms of system throughput, CPU availability, and system latency.

Design of Arrayed Waveguide Grating based Optical Switch for High Speed Optical Networks
This paper demonstrates the design of an Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based optical switch. In the design both physical and network layer analysis is performed. The physical layer power and noise analysis is done to obtain Bit Error Rate (BER). This has been found that at the higher bit rates, BER is not affected with number of buffer modules. Network layer analysis is done to obtain perfor...
متن کاملNeural Network Performance Analysis for Real Time Hand Gesture Tracking Based on Hu Moment and Hybrid Features
This paper presents a comparison study between the multilayer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) neural networks with supervised learning and back propagation algorithm to track hand gestures. Both networks have two output classes which are hand and face. Skin is detected by a regional based algorithm in the image, and then networks are applied on video sequences frame by frame in...
متن کاملModeling of Texture and Color Froth Characteristics for Evaluation of Flotation Performance in Sarcheshmeh Copper Pilot Plant, Using Image Analysis and Neural Networks
Texture and color appearance of froth is a discreet qualitative tool for evaluating the performance of flotation process. The structure of a froth developed on the flotation cell has a significant effect on the grade and recovery of copper concentrate. In this work, image analysis and neural networks have been implemented to model and control the performance of such a system. The result reveals...
متن کاملDetermination of Volumetric Mass Transfer Coefficient in Gas-Solid-Liquid Stirred Vessels Handling High Solids Concentrations: Experiment and Modeling
Rigorous analysis of the determinants of volumetric mass transfer coefficient (kLa) and its accurate forecasting are of vital importance for effectively designing and operating stirred reactors. Majority of the available literature is limited to systems with low solids concentration, while there has always been a need to investigate the gas-liquid hydrodynamics in tanks handling ...
متن کاملAnalysis and Modeling of Yield, CO2 Emissions, and Energy for Basil Production in Iran using Artificial Neural Networks
The present study attempts to investigate the potential relationship between input energies, performance production of greenhouse basil, and greenhouse gases emitted from this product. The data were collected from 24 greenhouses using a questionnaire and verbal interaction with farmers. Results of the study showed that the total input energy and total output energy for basil production were 119...
